Featuring the much-anticipated return to Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 to celebrate Cantata Singers’ 60th anniversary, a first-ever regional tour, a commission and world premiere by composer Scott Perkins, and a two-concert Chamber Series at the French Library.
Boston, MA —Under the direction of Music Director Noah Horn, Cantata Singers announces its 61st season. Four Main Stage concerts, two Chamber Series concerts, and two Community events round out the organization’s musical offerings, along with exclusive concert releases on their digital platform, Access Cantata Singers.
Boston Choral Festival: Monteverdi Vespers – October 25, 2024 | Cyclorama, Boston
In celebration of Cantata Singers’ 60th anniversary, experience the grandeur of Monteverdi’s 1610 Vespers in the unique circular splendor of Boston’s Cyclorama. As part of the inaugural Boston Choral Festival, this collaborative performance will bring together choral ensembles from across the region, creating a unique experience for all involved. The Cyclorama’s distinctive acoustics will enhance the work’s antiphonal effects, allowing listeners to be fully immersed in Monteverdi’s groundbreaking masterpiece. Chamber Series: Our Neighbors North and South – November 17, 2024 | French Library, Boston
Journey through the Americas without leaving Boston in this intimate chamber concert at the elegant French Library. Our singers will present a carefully curated selection of works from Canadian and Mexican composers, showcasing the rich diversity of choral music from our hemisphere. Featuring music by Canadian composers John Greer and John Estacio, and Mexican composers Daniel Catán, Carlos Chávez, and Arturo Márquez, this program promises to expand your musical horizons and celebrate our shared cultural heritage.
A Cantata Christmas – December 14, 2024 | St. Paul’s Parish, Cambridge
Usher in the holiday season with a magical evening of festive choral music in the warm, inviting acoustics of St. Paul’s Parish. Our program will weave together beloved carols, timeless masterworks, and contemporary seasonal works, creating a tapestry of sound that captures the wonder and joy of the season. The candlelit ambiance of this beautiful church will transport all involved, making this concert a cherished part of the Boston holiday traditions.
Community Sing – Winter 2025 (Date TBA) | Somerville Armory
The season begins with a joyous celebration of community and song. The historic Somerville Armory will come alive with voices of all ages and abilities, and under the guidance of Guest Artist Sophia Miller, participants will learn and perform a selection of choral works and be treated to food and drink for purchase. From classical choral works to contemporary pop arrangements, this inclusive event promises to unite music lovers in a shared experience of harmony and camaraderie. No prior singing experience necessary – only enthusiasm.
A Map to the Next World (Commission & World Premiere) – March 14, 2025 | Sanders Theatre, Cambridge
Step into the future of choral music in the historic Sanders Theatre. Cantata Singers will present the world premiere of A Map to the Next World , an ambitious, new, concert-length work about caring for our fragile and precious planet. Composer Scott Perkins takes us on a journey from creation, to destruction, to reconciliation and renewal through a nine-part choir, strings, percussion, and celesta.
Drawing upon Indigenous American folklore and using words by seven celebrated poets, environmentalists, activists, and anthropologists—Tamiko Beyer, Rachel Carson, Harold Courlander, Joy Harjo, Rachel Morgan, Jay Parini, and Judith Wright— A Map to the Next World helps to guide us in our continued search for new paths as custodians of the earth. Chamber Series: Our Composers Close to Home – March 30, 2025 | French Library, Boston
Join us for an evening that honors the past, present, and future of Boston’s rich musical heritage. This chamber concert showcases composers close to home, including Amy Beach, Arthur Foote, Leonard Bernstein, Peter Child, John Harbison, Marti Epstein, Elena Ruhr, and Omar Najmi. From the timeless pieces that have left a lasting legacy, to the fresh and innovative sounds of Boston’s modern vibrant music scene, this program celebrates the musical brilliance of Boston’s best.
Path of Miracles – May 2, 2025 | Saint Cecilia Parish, Boston
Embark on a spiritual journey through Joby Talbot’s stunning Path of Miracles , inspired by the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. The soaring vaults and luminous acoustics of Saint Cecilia Parish will amplify the work’s mystical qualities, creating a transcendent experience for listeners. This modern masterpiece blends ancient and contemporary sounds, taking the audience on an unforgettable musical pilgrimage that resonates long after the final notes fade. Cantata Singers will perform Path of Miracles on a regional tour to New York City and New Haven, CT. This performance will be recorded and available for purchase on Access Cantata Singers.
Cocktails & Cantatas – May 18, 2025 | The Substation, Boston
Cantata Singers will close the season in style at Roslindale’s hip Substation venue. This relaxed evening pairs exquisite singing with cocktails and food and includes an auction led by local auctioneer Cathy MacPherson. It’s the perfect blend of sophistication and fun – raising a glass to another successful season and toasting the vibrant future of choral music in Boston.

About Music Director Noah Horn
Noah Horn, whose work has been praised as “superb” (The New York Times), “well-prepared and joyful” (Detroit Free Press), “excellent,” and “fluent and fresh” (Opera News), began his role as Music Director of Cantata Singers in 2022. He comes to the ensemble having directed choirs and orchestras at the professional, collegiate, and community levels. He has worked with ensembles in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Turkey, Greece, Canada, and the Philippines.
As a tenor, Noah has sung solo roles in much of the standard oratorio and concert repertoire. His singing has been featured on America’s Got Talent, MLB.com, and YouTube’s homepage. Also an organist, Noah has served as music director at a number of churches, and currently works in that capacity at St. Thomas’s Episcopal Church in New Haven, CT. He recently won the nationally competitive AAGO and S. Lewis Elmer Prizes from the American Guild of Organists. In his younger years he enthusiastically pursued trumpet, and played principal trumpet for several orchestras, bands, and jazz ensembles, along with having the opportunity to play solo jazz trumpet for President Bill Clinton during his time in office.
Noah holds the D.M.A., M.M.A., and M.M. degrees from Yale University in choral conducting, and the M.M. and B.Mus. degrees from Yale and Oberlin College in organ performance. He lives in western Massachusetts with his wife and three children.
