About

For more than 10 years, the Brisch Center for Historical Performance has presented historically informed performance to Oklahoma audiences. Thanks to our generous patron, Dr. Margaret Brisch, and the Center founders Dr. Tess Remy- Schumacher and Dr. Ted Honea, the Brisch Center contains more than 40 historical instruments (and/or modern replicas), the largest collection in the state of Oklahoma. Adhering to performance traditions of early music, especially studying primary sources to discern musicking elements not notated in the score, we perform two HIP concerts per season. In addition to performance, the Brisch Center also provides digital open access to translated primary sources in the Historical Translation Series by Dr. Honea. This scholarly endeavour informs our practice. The aim of the Center is to increase understanding and experience of emobided baroque music and other early music.
