Biography

I was born and raised in the lower Hudson Valley 20 miles north of New York City.  I started to play the lute in 1974 while in 10th grade.  From the renaissance lute, I have expanded to play lutes of many pitches and sizes in lute consorts, baroque lutes and continuo plucked instruments, and medieval plucked instruments including the gittern and cetra.   More recently I've been playing the viol, with a special interest and attention on the renaissance viol consort.  I performed in lute ensemble concerts in BEMF in 1989 and 2015.  Professionally I work as an art conservator, specializing in restoring and preserving paintings.  Currently I am employed at the New-York Historical Society.
