Sacred Heart Parish in Grand Rapids, Michigan is celebrating the quincentenary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina in style. A dozen concerts – one per month beginning in January 2025 – commemorate one of the masters of Renaissance style in performances and liturgies that feature a wide range of works. Ensembles from around the world including the Tallis Scholars and Gesualdo Six have been invited to present concerts. Chicago-based Schola Antiqua opens the year of Palestrina with the composer’s contributions expressly for the feast of Epiphany.
