Lutenists, wind and string players, harpists and players of other soft instrument – join the Abella Harp Consort for a mixed consort workshop focused on music of the sixteenth century: frottolas, madrigals, dances, etc. Explore the rich and varied sonorities that come with combining instruments from different families. The Consort members (William Simms, lute; Liv Castor, harp; Sarah Shodja, recorders; Adrienne Hyde, viola da gamba; have tips on arranging for mixed ensembles; classes will work on phrasing and interpretation to bring out the inherent beauty of this music.
The day will be divided into four class periods with classes of 4-7 players, each composed of mixed instrumentalists. Each ensemble class will be taught by a different member of the Abella Harp Consort each period.
