Alkemie & Friends present “Blood, Booze & Betrayal: Music for An Extremely Broken Consort”

“Blood, Booze & Betrayal” presents some of the more lurid stories of the English-speaking Atlantic from medieval times to the present, featuring murder ballads, medieval and folk tunes, and newly-composed songs by Paul Holmes Morton and Fiona Gillespie, all played and sung on early and folk instruments. This concert will be livestreamed on August 29 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Tickets are $5-$100. Reserve tickets here: https://www.musae.me/alkemie/experiences/802/blood-booze-betrayal

Supported by Early Music America, this project launches Alkemie’s “Alkemie & Friends” series – an NYC-based series of informal, musically experimental, and multi-sensory concerts. This series is a forum for the ensemble to create programs that take advantage of the sonic possibilities that emerge when we collaborate with other experts in adjacent musical fields. This concert features Alkemie members Tracy Cowart (voice, harp, percussion) and Sian Ricketts (voice, recorders, douçaines) alongside Celtic specialist Fiona Gillespie (voice, whistle) and Paul Holmes Morton (banjo, theorbo, lute) of folk band Chivalrous Crickets, with maverick Loren Ludwig (viols, colascione) and composer Elliot Cole (guitar, harmonium).
