Courante baroque ensemble of Cape Cod, MA, will present a concert on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3:00pm at the Church of the Messiah, 22 Church St., Woods Hole, MA. Entitled “Crossing the Channel,” the program features music by composers who crossed the English Channel to further their careers. From Giovanni Coprario (John Cooper) to George Frideric Handel (Georg Friederich Händel), composers traveled both ways across the channel to apprentice, perform, teach or compose. Courante honors them with an offering of trio sonatas, fantasias and dances.
Founded in 2016, Courante performs baroque music on historic instruments at baroque pitch (A=415). Members include Jan Elliott, recorder; David Gable, violin; Molly Johnston, viola da gamba; and Brittany Lord, harpsichord.
Doors open at 2:30pm. Admission is by donation, with $20 suggested; children free.
