Learn how ornamentation in baroque music contributes to affect and expression!
In this interactive lecture workshop, Teddie will be showing how ornamentation contributes to affect in baroque music. Besides being just another fancy way to play a passage, ornamentation also has meaning and serves a rhetorical function. We will look at both German and French music and learn how to execute an ornament according to the affect required. In addition, we’ll also learn how to add our own ornamentation that compliments the music. Both focused exercises as well as a variety of baroque flute music will be presented.
