Missa de Beata Virgine & Motets
Josquin des Prez, the pioneer among the 16th-Century greats, was the primary influence on the music of each generation of Renaissance Composers, including Palestrina. His work, published by Octavio Petrucci, was among the first to be widely available outside the isolation of the great courts religious institutions; his most prestigious appointment, the Sistine Chapel. This concert will feature his most unique mass, in both four and five voices, as well as the breathtaking motets Praeter rerum seriem, Ave Maria virgo serena, and Inviolata.
