[Bowdoin, ME] Zenith Ensemble releases a captivating new interpretation of Handel’s rarely-performed Nine German Arias, 300 years after the composer put pen to paper.
Zenith Ensemble is proud to announce the release of their highly anticipated album, Handel: Nine German Arias, featuring soprano Nacole Palmer and baroque violinist Marika Holmqvist. This exquisite collection showcases some of Handel’s most beautiful and personal vocal works, inviting listeners to explore profound themes of life, nature, and the divine.
Handel: Nine German Arias presents a stunning dialogue between voice and violin, highlighting Handel’s extraordinary talent for melding the lyrical beauty of Barthold Heinrich Brockes’s text with poignant melodic and harmonic writing. Nacole Palmer’s expressive soprano voice is paired with Marika Holmqvist’s virtuosic baroque violin, and both are supported masterfully by baroque cellist Rebecca Humphrey and harpsichord player Barbara Weiss, creating a captivating soundscape that resonates throughout each aria.
“This album is a celebration of the depth of Handel’s artistry; the emotional impact and sheer variety of each aria illuminate why his music has such relevance today, 300 year later,” said Nacole Palmer, Artistic Director of Zenith Ensemble. “We aim to bring these remarkable and rarely performed pieces to a wider audience, showcasing their timeless beauty.”
Zenith Ensemble brings great music to audiences regardless of age, background, or financial circumstances. Their mission is to provide unforgettable, world-class choral and vocal music performances to communities across social and economic boundaries.
