Biography

David Loeb is primarily a composer, with an extensive catalogue of works for early instruments (mostly viols) and Asian instruments (mostly Japanese), sometimes in combinations.  His works are published by United Music Publishers (UK) , ALRY, and PRB.  More than thirty anthology CDs hhave been released by the Centaur and VMM labels.  He performs on Japanese transverse flutes (shinobue, kagurabue, komabue).

He studied at Mannes and has taught there since 1964.  He spends most of his vacation time in Kyoto, Japan, where he and his wife live in and maintain a traditional machiya residence which her family has possessed since 1913.
