Jay Michaels has recently been elected to the position of President of The Historical Harp Society. The HHS promotes the exchange of ideas and information about early harps and encourages research on the building of early harps, harp music composed before the modern era, and the performance practices of those earlier eras relating to the harp.

Jay performs with several Historical Harps designed after early Renaissance instruments, wire-strung Irish Harps, and the more contemporary Electric Harp. In addition to Harps, he is adept at the Viola da Gamba, Rebec, and Baroque Guitar.
He is also a member of Early Music America and The Viola da Gamba Society. His music has appeared in Television Programs and Independent Films.
