For this online release of our February in-person concert, Rezonance once again brings you the stories and music of composers who succeeded against all odds – only to be mostly overlooked by later historians. Until recently women and Black composers of western European music have been only given brief mentions – if that – in our music history texts. Efforts to rediscover their works have slowly taken shape over the last decade or so, and have led to many delightful musical surprises. Violinist Kailey Richards will shed light on the research process she went through for her doctoral research, and she and Erin James will amaze you with virtuosity in flamboyant concerti by Maddalena Sirmen and Joseph Bologne!
