Sarasa Ensemble to present “Night at the Opera”

Sarasa Ensemble continues its 2024-25 Concert Season, Voyages in Music, in March with “Night at the Opera.” High drama abounds in works for string quartet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Hyacinthe Jadin, and Carlo Monza; Mozart’s uncanny ability to etch out human nature in his music is everywhere apparent in his string quartets as much as in his operas. This instrumental program features two contemporaries who also introduce dramatis personae in their instrumental music, including Carlo Monza’s rarely-performed “The rival lovers.” Sarasa will present “Night at the Opera” at three public performances, as well as to incarcerated teens at Massachusetts’ Department of Youth Services facilities, as part of Sarasa’s award-winning Music Unlocked program.

Featuring Julia Glenn, Susanna Ogata, violins; Anna Griffis, viola; Jennifer Morsches, cello.
