Buffalo’s two early music ensembles join forces to celebrate Women‘s History Month, Early Music Month, and Bach’s Birthday on the Kleinhans Centerstage 3/29
Come celebrate Early Music Month and Women’s History Month with one of the few true all-female choirs in the nation! The Women of Vivaldi will toast the birthday of one of the greatest composers of all time – JS Bach – with a vocal program featuring many of Buffalo’s best classical singers, including Female Tenors, Baritones and Basses, at the world-renowned Kleinhans Music Hall CenterStage Series on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in Buffalo, NY.
The Women of Vivaldi was founded in 2018 by Contralto and Musicologist Suzanne Fatta to promote early music in the Buffalo/ Niagara area, and is a sister organization to the world-famous Vivaldi’s Women (in which Suzanne sings Bass and sits on the Board) of Oxford, UK. Our performances aim to re-create the sound-world of Antonio Vivaldi’s Venice, but this month we pay tribute to JS Bach in a fun birthday atmosphere!
The performance will be accompanied by Pavana Early Music Trio, another group Suzanne founded and directs. Pavana features period instruments, many hand-made by our luthier, Daniel Yost. Adding Ivan Docenko on Harpsichord, and Erin Keppner on Flute, this will bring 2 dedicated early music groups in WNY together in one magnificent spectacle. This unique series puts the audience up on the mainstage with the ensemble for an intimate, close-up performance. Tickets are limited.
WoV and Pavana Founder Suzanne Fatta says, “We are elated to present our COVID-cancelled concert from two years ago! The Women of Vivaldi invite you onto the mainstage at Kleinhans Music Hall to enjoy some of Buffalo’s top musicians as we celebrate Bach’s birthday with a raucous good time!” In this fun birthday program, The Woman of Vivaldi bring you the lighter side of Bach as some of Buffalo’s best singers show you the incredible range of the female singing voice.
Hear selections from Wachet Auf and The B Minor Mass; a delightful birthday coffee break with an opera scene of the Coffee Cantata; and Tönet, ihr Pauken! from a birthday fest that Bach threw.
Please note – we will be following all CDC and NYS covid guidelines and safety precautions at the time of the concert.
