Marc Destrubé is one of the world’s foremost baroque violinists. He has few solo recordings but he has led the Orchestra of the 18th Century for many years. This recording has a beautiful warmth to it and can be listened to many many times. The music itself is of astonishing variety and complexity. Leclair was the violinist to the King of France, and he understood all the possibilities of the instrument. Furthermore as a composer he shows taste and refinement. We could all learn from Leclair.
